Turn 1

This is a fast track, so you might be braking from the highest speeds you've ever seen when entering T1. Still, the braking zone is not as long as you might think because T1 is quite fast. You'll probably be downshifting 5th-3rd. Turn in is just a couple feet after the '1' sign. Your car will decide where it wants to be going through here. Most people leave a little extra room at the apex of T1 (at the curb track right) so that they can drift all the way back track left for the entrance of T2.

Update... new pavement as of 2007... no more patches! It's now June, and the track looks REALLY good. No sealer, no broken areas, nice and smooth with one exception (see turn 9)

Turn 1 is now a fully 4th gear turn for most cars. Probably not flat out, but you'll be in 4th scrubbing off speed from turn one to make turn 2. Depending on your mechanical grip and/or your gearing and power, you may be able to hold 4th through T2 as well.

Your lines will vary. Stack

Turn 2

From T1, you should be drifting track left towards the curbing. A little bit of braking here to rotate the car is good. Turn in with the right side tires on the black patch (it's about 2' wide) and look way ahead to the apex. You can get on the power here very early and use all the curbing on the inside of the track. Track out comes pretty naturally. I usually don't use the exit curbing because it can unsettle the car some. After exiting track left, smoothly ease back to the opposite side of the track to set up for T3.

Turn 3

This corner is VERY fast. Enter from track right in 4th gear and turn in towards the center seam at the entry. Stay away from the oustide curbing. Some cars will be flat through the whole corner, others will only need a lift (DON'T LIFT after entering the corner). If you're in something really fast, you might need to brush the brakes. At least keep "maintenance" throttle through the corner to keep the back end planted. Look way ahead to the curbing at the apex at the end of the corner. As soon as you can see it, you should be creeping full track left, hugging the inside. When you finally get to the curb, you should be touching the grass, all the way over the curbing. Let the car out a little bit for track out (touch the center line with the right-side tires).

It is important to keep your speed high going through T3. There's no reason to think "slow in, fast out" here because there's no straight after it. If you shed your speed to use a late turn-in, you've got no place to make that speed back up.

Turn 4

You'll probably want to downshift 4th-3rd here, which you will stay in all the way to the last corner of the track. Most likely you'll be about a car-width off the left side of the track entering T4. However, as you get closer to the corner and bleed off the brakes as you turn in, you can let the car drift back to the outside some. Look ahead to your apex and turn in, aiming to straddle the patches that are mid-track before the curbing. Use the curbs at the track out (all the way to the very last one where the dirt is). Track out just a few feet and the head back track right for T5.

Turn 5

There are several approaches to this corner, so let me outline them separately.

Traditional late apex: stay right of the centerline on the entry to the corner. Bleed off speed and maybe brush the brakes as you approach the right-side curb mid-corner. Look ahead to the apex curb and feed in the power. Track out full track right.

Double apex, straight braking: turn in pretty early and meet the inside of the track at the first apex. Let the car drift out and brake hard in a straight line while aiming at the right-side curb. Rotate the car, turn in and feed in the power. Apex and track out at the curbs.

Double apex, tight line: this is the way I like to do it because you don't have to shed much speed. This does require very good car control, though. Turn in while still on the gas. Bleed off the throttle once you've passed the first apex and let the car drift out towards center track. Depending on the car, you may need to brush the brakes a little here, some cars may only require a lift. As soon as the car rotates, get back in the power and hug the inside line over the curbs all the way out of the corner, track out full track right. This line requires grip and car control. Once you get it down, you may never use the brakes here and you'll catch cars every lap.

Turn 6

Sometimes T5 is referred to as T5/T6. So this corner may be referred to as T7 at your event. In any case, I'm talking about the right-hander on the far back side of the track.

This corner is pretty much like T4. Enter a few feet off the left side of the track, but let the car drift out to the outside just after turn in. You barely have to use the brakes here at all. In fact, I'd suggesting lifting early on the approach (no brakes) and carrying more speed every lap as you learn it; this will make you realize how fast you can go in. I trail brake through the first 30 feet or so of this corner. Stay mid track down the hill, and as it flatens out you should see your apex and start to turn in towards the curbing. Feed in the power very early here, because there's lots of room at the track out. Most people leave 6 feet or more at the exit curb, which clearly indicates how much faster they could've gone.

Turn 7

The last corner heading onto the main straight. Sometimes referred to as T8 or T8/T9.

You will probably be in 4th gear entering this corner full track left. Turn in is where the track begins to turn. Look way ahead, never farther out than center track. Find the V-shaped curb where pit lane goes right and the track goes left. As you approach this you should be getting all the way down to the inside and as soon as you meet the grass in this V-area, you should be hugging the inside curb. Again, look way up to your track out point and open the wheel smoothly. If you realize that you are not going to keep the car on track, let it go. There's a huge field to drive through track left, but a cement wall track right. Where do you want to end up?
