Leatt Brace Overview and testing material

This is a very unusual design which looks like a horse collar around your neck. When your head/helmet tip forward, backward or laterally, the collar stops the progression of the helmet (be sure to do up your chin strap!). Works with full face or open face helmets. There are adjustments between the front/back sections and to raise/lower the front and back sections independently to account for the size of your neck and for upright or laid back seating positions. There are versions for both motorcyclists and car drivers. It is relatively new so we'll try to get someone from the manufacturer to help us. It claims advantages over the competition, but has no significant history of use.

  * The SFI approved model has tethers which attach to the chinstrap of the helmet
  * The models without tethers are not SFI 38.1 approved
  * Easily shareable as helmet is unmodified (although there are personalized adjustments of the front and back sections that you might have to change and restore)
  * Low cost, the least expensive SFI 38.1 H&NR solution on the market. You order it directly from the manufacturer's site in the USA and there are distributors in some other countries.
  * Recommend replacing device after 3 years (as many manufacturers do)

It works with 3pt belts and looks good for instructors.
