Default Asphalt Ventures - iRacing hosted race

Hey guys... so now that I've got my internet connection issues sorted, and some machinery that will enable me to run a full race with little to no headaches and decent graphics... I'm ready to get back online more regular like.

So I'd like to start by hosting a race for my buds.

Here's what I'm thinking (without any pre-thought of course):

The Asphalt Ventures - Fixed Or Repaired Daily race #1 (for fun and testing)

Watkins Glen Boot
Choice of:
  • Ford Falcon V8
  • Ford Mustang
  • Spec Racer Ford
20 lap race, preceded by a 30 minute open qualifying session (practice will be on your own.)

This would be a private race, but I will be inviting people from other forums as well.

Thoughts on format and time?

I'm open to doing it as early as this week if anyone wants.

Yeah... 9:00 eastern would probly be the earliest anyway.

I'm thinking maybe we'll do the series in three parts:

1st three races will be SRF, 2nd three will be the Mustang, last three will be something else... the V8s are a REAL challenge, but I'm open to suggestions.

ok... I've been typing up a schedule, points, and "rules", and here's what I've come up with, tell me what you think:

Asphalt Ventures
iRacing Private Series

Races 1-3(Using included content for new iRacers)
Tuesday September 7th – 9:00pm eastern
o Spec Racer Ford (SRF) @ Lime Rock Park (no chicane)
Tuesday September 14th – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF @ Summit Point
Tuesday September 21st – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF @ Laguna Seca

Races 4-6(Added content)
Tuesday October 5th – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF/Mustang FR500S @ Lime Rock Park (no chicane)
Tuesday October 12th – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF/Mustang @ Summit Point
Tuesday October 19th – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF/Mustang @ Road America

Races 7-9(Added content)
Tuesday November 2nd – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF/Mustang @ Mosport
Tuesday November 9th – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF/Mustang @ New Hampshire (Road Course)
Tuesday November 16th – 9:00pm eastern
o SRF/Mustang @ Road Atlanta

Race 10 – Bonus Round
Tuesday December 7th – 9:00pm eastern
o Corvette C6R @ VIR Full Course

Points
1st – 10pt
2nd – 8
3rd – 6
4th – 4
5th – 2

Pole Position +1 pt
Fastest Race Lap +1 pt
5 or more starts +1 pt
Complete Season (starts) +3 pt
Week 10 Bonus Round start +1 pt

*** IF incident points are recorded by iRacing in hosted races, there will be a point deduction for EACH incident point garnered. This will hopefully ensure clean, fair racing and minimize corner cutting. Just remember… iRacing is “no fault”, so all parties involved in an incident will accrue incident points and as such will be subject to the point deductions. (I don’t have time to go through and assign fault to all incidents.) ***

Format
9:00pm (Eastern) - Open practice session (length TBD)
- Open Qualifying session (15 minutes)
- 20 lap race

sounds kickass, I assume for the mixed class racing there'd be points for each class?

Good question... one I haven't really thought through. I assume lap times between the SRF and the Mustang would be far enough apart that it wouldn't really be fair (to keep them in one class).

On the other hand, I might make the decision that championship points accrue WITH the "upgrade". In otherwords... one can choose to stay in the SRF, but won't accrue any more championship points.

Then again, we all might have so much fun in the SRFs after the 1st three races that no one will want to move to the Mustangs and we'll forget about them. I personally think they offer the most realistic driving experience in iRacing at the moment... but since it's not an "included" vehicle, I'd hate to make it a requirement to continue in the league along WITH the added tracks.

At the same time, I think anyone new to iRacing joining us will be hooked after the 1st three races and hopefully will want to upgrade to some new cars & tracks.

Now... having laid out all this, let's hope Earl doesn't barrel through Thursday night and knock out my DSL lines

i have all the content (tracks/cars) but having driven the stang some, it's pretty much a handful. now perhaps a better setup would help too. i haven't had much time to play with it. the srf is tried and tested for most folks.

I know there were still a few Trackpedia people on the fence about iRacing, I'm hoping maybe this will help push people to join. Maybe Skeen can chime in with some discount codes or something.
