Thumbs up Book: Speed Secrets - Professional Race Driving Techniques

Title: Speed Secrets - Professional Race Driving Techniques
Author: Ross Bentley
Publisher: Motorbooks International
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/076...Fencoding=UTF8

This is a book that I've seen recommended at plenty of places, so I thought it would be interesting to read it. I've found it to be a very good book covering the foundation knowledge you should have when driving at the track. It's fairly well written (not really a novell..) and easy to understand with illustration to complement the text. You'll get to know the common lingo for tracking. Each topic is sliced out and you can use the book to fall back and check on a certain area easily.

This is a book I wish someone would have put in my hands after the first time I went out there. It's written about tracking in general and contains what I would want everyone to know as common sence. It will not cover all topics, don't expect in-depth techniques descriptions, but it will be helpful for anyone from beginner to amateur racer.

I actually have a friend that was an engine builder at GTCars who in his younger days did a boat load of ice racing before getting into forumla cars. He has absolutely mad car control and I bet feels things we could only dream of. I swear he corrected the car before the car moved in some of the old Formula videos I saw of his.

still reading speed secrets and speed secrets 2, im actually further in speed secrets 2, it has alot of things about the mental aspects of driving, and brain development seems like the fastest way to improvment. I cant wait to get on track this year and test out my newly asimilated knowledge.

heres a few things i didnt even consider before that this book taught me so far.

*accelerating, can cause understeer because of the weight transfer
*proper execution of heel/toe
*bunches of "mind set" and "focus" sorts of things. heck its awsome the book has self coaching questions.
*training your senses
*really just given me more perspective on all aspects of car control.

really too many things to list these books are just my first then ill check out inner speed secrets, and any more recomended books after that. I want to read up as much as I can I already have noticed improvement in my street driving with the books info so far. how is everyone success with reading and driving improvement.
