Pretty frigging huge. Passenger side cage looked like it collapsed a little but it's great he walked away. Well, those fences don't look tall enough, thats for sure. The emergency workers were lucky, they werent that far away from that.

I once commented to a semi-pro racer I might think about progressing into Touring. His advice was not to, potential for running against poor prep and less skill.

For the safety gear, looks like it all worked to perfection.

Assuming no fluid on track, one cant help but wonder if there wasnt some sort of ABS failure involved given the decel G bars rather erratic behavior. Scary!

After posting this I had a sobering thought - given the showroom stock nature of that car the accident could just as easily have happened at a track day where there would have been significantly less safety equipment in use and even the possibility of a passenger along for the ride. This thought just underlines the sentiment that one should not place a car on-track that the owner isn't willing to wad up and (hopefully) walk away from.

Reason: Added the track day consideration ...

Maybe some enterprising far east firm will pick up on that fact and start making tires out of recycled clippings.
