I saw one at the autoshow. They look mean in person. Their bite backs up their bark.

It's a fast car but why use a Turbo 997? The GT3 or RS would have been a better car to compare with. I don't think the Turbos market is track heads, too heavy and soft. I'm not sure a GT3 would have beaten it but it would have been closer.

The write up even even suggested that a GT3 or GT3RS would be better suited to the job. R&T couldn't get their hands on one? Hmm...

I think there is no doubt about that at all. Look at the Top Gear stig times for the cars, the GT3 is way faster round a track than a 997 turbo.

I wonder if the GT3 would have been able to match the times. Isn't Nissan planning on a lighter faster GTR?

Another question from me on this comparison is what tires did the cars run on? If the Vette's ran on the junk they came on I would say that could make a fairly large difference here as well.

In the road and track article there is a section that shows the speed graph and it explains the two main reasons the GTR is faster on that track. 1) they admit the GTR has the best tires of the 3 cars. 2) The computer controlled AWD system allows more power to be used earlier to pull out out of corners.
