Total makeover...
Figured I'd start a photo thread around the process of transforming my RS to an RSR. Those of you who've known Whitey, now is the time to remove your hats and observe a moment of silence, for truly he is gone. What will emerge after this final surgery, noone can say for sure. One thing for certain though, it will be exciting. Having entered the operating room at ~2250#, with everything off we got down to 1793#. Now with the front clip loosely fitted we arrive at the number below. Balancing the rear quarters and bumpers on the car adds another whopping 17#s. So add lexan, mirrors, tail/head lights, zeus fittings and the rear deck and we're pretty much back to full strength. I'm still thinking 1950. Kinda makes an Exige seem a little porky dontcha think .

Looks good, how is the cross weight varying and the fuel drops? Does it move towards 50% at an empty tank? This is how I've tried to setup my 944.

Hmmm...trying to grok your sentence. Did you mean 'how does the cross weight vary as the fuel level drops?' If so, cant say really, but I would expect that th effect is nil as I have a centrally located race fuel cell.

I'm running the NER-PCA AX school sponsored by the builder (Conway Autoworks) on April 6th so we're both hopeful it will be ready to go by then... at least there is some added incentive to get it done. But you know how these things can go.

TW, are you going to paint it white or stay with the unfinished look?
I hope we are not in the middle of mud season by early April or the AX trailer won't get out of my yard.

White is history. You laugh, but I came very close to staying with the unfinished look, trouble was it would have been $2500 extra to d the car in full carbon fiber, OTOH, I might have saved on paint. Have yet to make a final decision as to color. Pretty certain I will be going with the psychedelic stripes as seen below, but in the same blue as the current interior, while the body color will be either a bright silver or that liquid gray you see on Audi TTs.
As for the trailer, fear not, I'll yank t out of there with the F250...there aint much that can stop that SOB.

Well its your car. But I'm so sick of silver 911's. I'd keep it white with blue psycho stripes, better match with the interior also...and a better palate to sticker the car up anyway. Starting with a Trackpedia.com thingie.
Planning to dyno after surgery?
ps. I wasn't kidding about mud season. Either of our tow vehicles could pull the AX trailer out but I don't want 2 foot ruts in my paddock. We'll talk.

Nope, no white. Well, almost no white. Just got off the phone with Damon and he's refusing to do silver, although while there are tons of modern 911s in silver, I'll grant you, there are very few, early ones that I've seen. Anyhoo, its looking like something between the Audi gray I referenced previously (Nimbus Gray Pearl effect), possibly Silverstone Gray, an '06 GTI color to 9401 Slate gray (an early 65-66 911 color) with the blue stripe with white (cream white) accents. Most likely my original notion, which is the Nimbus Gray. Heres a reasonable facsimile, a little bit lighter in person...
Nope no dyno time, no changes in that area.
Trailer? We'll figure something out, its a long way away. If your worried and it freezes up, I'll just come over an drag it back here.
