Default Summit Point Main get's repaved this week.

If the weather holds up, the Main Track will have a brand new coat of asphalt in time for Friday at the Track on 10/12.

Did you see my comment on My350Z about this??

If this is true, and it's indeed new asphalt, not just a patch & seal... they will be in a world of hurt, just like Roebling Road was a few years back.

Don't really need a link... there was a similar post on My350Z... I just said I hoped (for now) that it was just a sealer (like we saw at Rockingham this weekend) if they are planning on running cars on it this weekend. New Asphalt needs time to cure, or else fast/powerful/heavy cars will tear up the new pavement.

This exact scenario happened to Roebling Road when it was repaved in the late 90's.

RP Performance confirmed its being repaved starting today. No details on the work they are doing but Brett DePadro is a reliable source.

Just talked to Brett out at RP.

He says they are still paving as we speak, with a significant bit to go. Should be REAL interesting for tommorow, and even more so for the NASA race this weekend, after we tear it up.

Not sure what they were thinking here, but I sad the same when they built the Shenandoah circuit :-)

FYI

The new surface ROCKS. Way smoother, and feels faster. Definately less abusive on the car. The line may have shifted a bit in places, and most of the reference markings are gone.

I wish I could give you times, but FATT didn't let me put a hotlap beacon out. G2 was crowded as hell anyway, w/ terrible passing ettiquite, so I doubt I got many clean ones anyway.

It didn't seem to tear apart any. If it makes it through the NASA race weekend, it'll be great.
