Cooking brake fliud can be done on that track with street tires. What where your tire temps at the end of the 10 laps. Did you achieve optimal temps for each tire in the review? I remember the review on the V710 was amazaing, but road racers found out they like to fall off a little as tire temps stay around optima that for 15+ minutes and very quickly if they got too hot.

A couple of notes:
Our tire temperatures for some of the tires were approaching 200 degrees, others were in the 170-180 range.
V710s (and A6s for that matter) still win Runoffs though...so they can't suck that bad.
The R888 was tested for the Nov. issue, albeit also as a part of a regular autocross test on an RX-8 in Indiana. On the second day, we opened things up and ran 10 laps like this test, but this was still a 40 second lap. Again, temps north of 200 degrees.
The next true track tire test will be done on a 'real' race track. It just might take a year or two for us to be able to schedule/afford/desire to do another test.

Per,
Thank you very much for chiming in. I am glad to hear that you pal on doing a test on a full size track. Also thank you for letting us know that you did get the temps up to the 200 area. I don't think I remember reading that in the article (though I have been known to miss major things!).
Glad to see you on the site, you guys have a great magazine. Now I need to get some GRM stickers on the car.

Per - thats the kind of information I am looking for in the articles!!! And yes the V710 win, but it took some time to decamber cars and find out how to keep them from overheating and to know when they where ready to fall off and say just shy of that point.
Of course I am enjoying the work up articles on getting handling out of different popular AX cars. The best is that they can apply to many makes and models once you find out the nuances.
