Young Kid in a Wrong-Wheel-Drive Car
Hello everybody, my name is Jon. A Seattle native currently residing in Santa Barbara, CA, I finally pinched together enough dough to get on track a little over a year ago when I was 19. Beginning with Pacific Raceways in Kent, I can't get enough of the track. Especially on a full time college student / part time work budget. I've used Trackpedia for quite some time, but never managed to venture over to the forum section.
I suppose you might call Buttonwillow my home track, though I'm happy on most any of them. I'm often lurking around Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, or Infineon, and in a few short weeks Laguna Seca.
I'm the one in the girl car, a 1995 Honda del Sol VTEC in red with Kosei K1 wheels. The car is mostly stock with 18X,XXX miles, and serves as my daily driver as well. The small list of modifications is as follows:
205/50/15 Falken Azenis (Hoping to move up to R's by next season)
15x7 +38 Kosei K1 Wheels
Hawk Blue Pads
Russel's SS Lines
Motul Fluid
Recaro SPG
Crow 6pt Harness
Custom Fabbed Harness Bar
K&N Drop-In Filter
Integra Type-R Cams
Bone stock everything else
I'm usually #934, so if you see me please come up and say hello, or sit down and have lunch so I can pick your brain to find the faster line. My car is hard to miss, it's the one with the enormous blue cloud of smoke behind it.
Here are a few pictures of it:
Glad to be aboard!

Welcome Jon!!
There's no shame in FWD!
Do some research on the use of a 4 or more point harness without a rollbar though

Welcome Aboard!!! Three cheers for the budget approach! Extra feeling of accomplishment when you can do it on the cheap!
Frankly, I think the Del Sol looks pretty nice on the track... especially with the Recaro's in it.

thank you! i'm actually rather fond of fwd, I just know that many frown upon it I also noticed that there were a lot of P-car guys on this forum
jim: I have done some research indeed on using a sub belt on cars without a rollbar. While I understand the risks of not being able to submarine, I have looked at and analyzed a number of del sol rollovers and I felt comfortable with the integrity of the factory rollbar. Luckily I don't participate in any aggressive events, as I have yet to even enter a time trials competition. For now, I stick to mostly HPDE groups 2 and 3 depending on my experience with the track. I appreciate your words of advice though, and I hope very much to step up to a car with a roll bar (at a minimum). As for now though, I had to keep the car streetable as it serves as my daily driver.
thank you all for the warm welcome; i look forward to learning a thing or two from this forum!

Welcome!
I think you've got an excellent car to go track with. Many start with overpowered cars on the track and never really learn how to get the last out of the line. If you're consistent and open minded you'll reach levels where you'll humiliate P-Car beginners quite easy.

Heck, Half the Porsche guys around here put the ENGINE on the wrong side of the car, so I wouldn't worry about the drive wheels!!!

Welcome Jon. Nothing wrong with FWD. My wife did her first 3 track days in our 2003 Mini Cooper S (with Kosei Wheels and Falken Azenis tires no less).
Now Eric EVERYONE knows the proper location of a Porsche engine is in the rear. Makes for a more challenging driving experience.
