Wanna to borrow our data logger?
I'm looking to get as logged laps for as many tracks as possible and we'd like experience people to drive the laps so that pretty much rules me out.
We own a G2Extreme GPS data logger which can be installed in a car with velcro and a cigarette lighter adapter for power. It records speed, line, lateral/long G forces and can produce turn by turn entry/exit/time figures and show the line.
We'd like to use these to improve our track guides with good drivers showing the pro lines, we'll also have amateur lines (no problem getting those myself) for open criticism.
So, anyone up to help out?

Come on guys I know there are a lot of you out there in the South and other areas that would love to see how quick you are really going around the track. The GPS data logger is monkey simple to setup and run with and heck you can be infamous or famous on the board here by having your track times forever recorded on the wiki and a map of the track with you driving it out there as well.
Come on who's going to be the first taker after I use it next weekend at BIR?

Oh, it's coming to LCMT and you're welcome to use it on the last day. We need a good one for the site.

My money is on Cavlino and Toycar for the best results. They have driven the track more than any of us. The battle for worst data results will be between you, me, and John. Regardless of data, we will have a really good time.
ps. You are sure its monkey simple? Finally something I can use, praise the lord! I'm low tech, but I can drive!

Yep,
It's got builtin 100hz accelerometers for lat/long G forces. It has a GPS antenna that goes on your roof in the center. You velcro the unit to a carpet and make sure it's pointed straight to avoid lat G in a straight line.
I have an RPM cable in my car which I can use to also gather RPM and the current gear but without the cable, this won't be there on your car.
It starts recording when you exceed 30mph and it stops 30 seconds after you stop. No buttons.
It records 30 hours of data.
So basically, put the antenna on the roof, plug in the power, velcro it, you're done. In my car, I'd also connect the RPM cable.
We need to drive around the outside and inside edges of the track at some point and mark the start/finish line.

As Lobo6 said I think Helena (Toycar 1) and myself can get you decent lines at LCMT. We will also be at Mosport in July (21st to 23rd) so we could use it to record Mosport data. Since the LCMT event is just 2 weeks after the Mosport event unless you need the reader before LCMT we could just get it back to you then.

It usually just a fuse, but if that's not it just add another accessory plug by hooking one directly into your fuse box

Cool so we should have:
BIR April 21-23 - Billy/John
Roebling May 20-21 - Ken
Road America July 9-11 - Billy/John
LCMT Aug 8-10 - Billy/John/Lobo/Carm/Toycar
Mosport Aug 21-23 - Carm/Toycar
Mid America Sept 14-15 - Billy/John
So lots of weekends open for people to get their chance with this and log some tracks.
