I dont know about that Sco replay your copy of the episode and note the damage on the bumper. If she did spin him her bumper should have been crushed front to back, instead it was torn forward and the fender well lip was bent from the wheel but not by the headlight? Sounds like a chop mid corner to me, at least thats what I saw was he came down the track she just held her line.

I watched for awhile last night. Thanks for the tip Stack. IMHO there is not enough of on track footage. Gangsta Foot's comment cracked me up. The bumping I saw did seem like the result of waching COPS too much.
There is too much yak. The "host" has one thing dead wrong...if you win the sponser doesn't care how much you have creased the body work. Finish last and it may well be an issue.
Anyone know where these tracks are?

I was talking about contact all around, not just the chick. I thought she'd actually had some experience, but clearly I was wrong. I haven't paid close enough attention to the names, but the two guys I thought would be out front are up there.
The Jesse James-looking guy cracks me up. And the tubby dude with the foo-man-chui beard... where do they find these characters? Do I need to dye my hair blue, cut it into a sideways mohawk, pierce my nose, and wear some birth-control glasses to qualify?
For the record, I found that pic on Google images -after- asking what I had to do.

Actually one is a local SoCal club racer, I cannot remember the sponsor of another guy but hes a national level autocrosser with a few jackets to prove it. The circle track guys are from the west coast legents and dirt roundy round.

We watched this in the hotel on Sunday night. I have to say I was excited and then 2 minutes in I wanted to turn the channel. To much frigging talking about nothing and not enough action on the track. Conan and I had the same gripe as well about the camera cuts being to jerky. They show a scene for like 5 seconds and then cut. It was annoying.
I personally can't believe how much the guys run into each other with the cars as well. I mean Nascar cars come out cleaner after Darlington.

OK... I gotta say its significantly more entertaining than Forza was... and while I think there's too much emphasis on "being a racer" and not "the racing", this last episode (#4) was entertaining and extremely frustrating. Jeremy (Koni) is obviously in the top three of everyone on the show. Ryan (Virgin Records) is not.
Without recapping the whole episode, I think Jeremy got a really raw deal... mostly because his dad refused to apologize to another crew for an incident. This created not only a target on his back from the driver's, but now the officials because all they hear is his dad telling his son "They want you to lose" when asked why he was being black flagged again.
Jeremy ended up staying in front of Ryan despite a right rear wheel that had 6 INCHES of toe-out. It was a very impressive few laps I thought.
Oh... and then the "official" de-brief, to try and decide who goes home was a joke and just plain wrong. I don't know if something like that is done in actual professional racing situations, but it just pissed me off.
Anyway, if anyone else watched it... what are your thoughts?

I like the show. It is frustrating but it beats most of what is on TV. Jeremy is the class of the field. I couldn't believe they tried to blame his driving in the debrief; Ryan flat out broke Jeremy's car and should have not even made the show in the first place. I thought it was interesting that they had sooo many drivers in the first episode and these 10 were the best out of that group. Ryan and the chick that lost earlier are/were terrible. Wish I could find out about these shows.

Cynic mode: ON
Speed wouldn't have financed the show without a guarantee of some drama for the cameras. Unfortunately, the Fox people running things translate drama into big crashes and bleeping out cuss words; aimed right at their NASCAR demographic. Pontiac gets free press for providing the cars to "spec race" and all the sponsors get free advertising when the cars are called by sponsor instead of driver. Speed's cash outlay had to be pretty minimal for all the press they're giving away. I think Rhys and Tommy may have been sold on "The Next American Racer" and then found out the show was a "Setup"... in more than one way.
Cynic mode: OFF
It is still the most promising new show Speed has been behind in a looooong time. A more technical angle to the setup of the cars would be great as would more thought process interviewing of the drivers and crew before each race. I don't care that comic book boy's mother is home sick with the flu and he's -just-got-to-win-. I got enough of that watching Speed Racer save the day/trees/whales/ChimChim/princess. If he's just got to win, what is his approach going to be? How is he going to do it? What is he doing to the car to make sure it happens? If it doesn't, what is he going to change... and why?
