Give them a clutch, slicks, and take away the wings. Muhahaha. I know, it'll never happen, but it would make a better race. Choose a displacement and let everything else be free (other than safety regs).

Agreed with the most on the post... I drive Emma with her PSM OFF 99.9 percent of the time. I call the turning off the PSM the "RANDOM BUTTON". But yes, the no-passing rule is rediculous! PEOPLE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PASS! And die! But by passing I mean take more drastic measures!
as Moses would say if he watched F1 "LET MY PEOPLE PASS!!!"

I like that they are getting rid of the traction control because contrary to Billy's belief that it will not help passing I believe it will. Most passes are setup not on entry to the corner but on who gets the best exit from the previous one. Without traction control I think you are going to see a lot more people screwing up coming out of turns and spinning the tires or having to get our of the gas than now and thus you will see more passing.
I however dont like the CoT approach that F1 is taking. I like it being the most advanced form of racing on the planet. The sharing of common components and engines having to last N races is just junk. I want each car to be different. I want each manufacturer to step up to the plate and bring their A game each year. I like to see not just the best drivers but also the smartest engineers at work. I think you need to make the car still need great feats of human input so no ABS, traction control, stability control, automatic gearboxes. But let the engineers work at advanced engines (Audi TDI for example), SMG setups, aero, regenerative braking, and anything that can add power. If they want to get spiffy require a certain fuel, or restrict fuel usage per race to n gallons.
So there are my thoughts...many of which I am sure others feel as well. I like that F1 is man and machine versus the competition, not just man. If that was the case there are a lot more interesting sports to watch.

Ever watched the A1 races? Where countries pit identical cars against man and team?

I agree with about 80% of that. However, I think the concept of spec type races (aka CoT) deals with the budget imbalances between the teams. How do we know Torro Rosso doesn't have the smartest engineers? Maybe they can't afford to pay them overtime? Or maybe the best engineers are on Ferrari and Renault tems because the other teams can't afford to hire them? If the rules are too loose, high budget teams will always dominate the lower budget teams. As an up-and-coming low budget racer, I'd think you could sympathize.
I agree with others that instead of forcing the teams to use a spec car, just remove the wings (or make them a lot smaller), get rid of all the electronics, drop HP to a "measly" 600 (in a car that weighs only 1000 lbs?? that's plenty!), and have at it!
