Well, it rained!
There were 17 H4 cars! thanks to the AZ and NV guys for showing up.
Saturday:
Haven't had a NASA event with rain and I think it was almost everybody's first time racing in rain. Everything went smooth though. It started with a light drizzle in the morning to pouring in the beginning of the race at 4:20pm and the sun came out halfway through the race.
I was also doing HPDE 3 with the integra while Edik was racing. The groups weren't one after another so everything worked out. I had alot of fun even though it was raining and I had to slow it down alot. I only had one close call where I went in too fast and slid the car sideways but was able to countersteer and bring the car back straight. Besides that I took it easy and had lots of fun.
It was also Edik's first time driving or racing in the rain. He had more close calls than me since he was pushing more than me. He outqualified everybody in the group and took pole. :thumbup:
It started to hail a bit while race group was on the grid and rained until midway through the race. Edik was on the inside left with Higashi in H1 on the outside, Jeremy on the inside who qualified second in H4 with Benny in his yellow CRX in third. On the start Higashi couldn't find any traction and Edik and some of the other H4 cars were able to get past by him. The rain stopped and Edik was still out in front with Jeremy behind in second, Paul Pate in 3rd who came out from Nevada, and Benny in 4th. The top 4 cars pulled away from the rest of the field as the race progressed. Benny got past Paul and took third, I think it was the last turn before the oval on the last lap. Jeremy took 2nd, behind Edik who took the first win of the 2006 season. :thumbup:
John Thawley made it out to the track and had some minor things to finish up and was ready for the race. He took 2nd place in H1 as Bernardo in the Hasport had fog problems with the windshield, so did alot of others, and Higashi Got 1st.
Also a congrats to John Howard(suprmods) who qualified 12th place and finished 7th place in his first Honda Challenge race.
Sunday:
Sunday was pretty much dry until after the race finished. Edik took pole again with Jeremy in second. Jeremy and Edik had a battle for first as the lead changed a couple of times. Behind them were Benny and Thomas fighting over third place with Benny finishing ahead of Thomas in third place. Edik was able to cross the finish line first with Jeremy right behind.
In H1, Bernardo was on pole, with Higashi in second and Thawley in third and Paul in 4th and they all finished that way.
