Default Skip Barber 3-day @ Homestead - 12/11/06

In a few days, on 12/11, our own jstecher starts his 3-day at Skippy. Let's wish John luck and use this thread to discuss a pre and post look at the school.

Looking forward to this big time! Can't wait to get back behind the wheel of something besides the SUV and get out of the -100 degree weather here in Minnesota.

I arrive in Miami on Sunday, head to the track Monday at 7am and am ready to rock after that. I plan on updating every night here in this thread and HOPEFULLY will have some picture each day for you all.

After a lot of talk with Conan and Jim I am pretty much expecting this to make my year...if only the summer would come faster so I could translate what I learn directly into a session with the Stohr.

as I've told John, that school can be different for every student, It's a lot what you make it. There'll be people there for a 1-time shot of fun and there'll be kids there trying to work their way from karts to Indy. It's important you tell the instructors what your goal is, and then demonstrate you're serious about getting there. The cars are quick, but really safe.

Start practicing your H/T in any car you drive right after you sign up for the course, it's a big part of doing well.

Its definately got a much more upright seating position than the DSR does. Let see am I excited to get on the plane Sunday....as Stone Cold Steve Austin says "OH HELL YA".

Talked to Skippy this morning and confirmed everything. Weather looked nice at least check as well so now its just memorizing the turns from various videos and Skeens excellent turn by turn work and I am off.

Post Drive a Porsche @ Skip Barber

Bit OT here, but I've noticed several adds recently showing Porsche 997's at SB schools. Looks like at only two tracks so far, Laguna Seca and Lime Rock. Now I'm seriously interested.

Just need to find a few grand that I'm sure I've misplaced around the house.

Yep. It's pretty new -- introduced last year, I believe. The One and Two Day High Performance Driving Schools.
