Default New here, just want to introduce!

Hi guys

My name is Shane, and I hail from Orillia, ON, Canada. If you have NO idea where that is (and I expect that most of you don't), it's very close to Toronto, ON, Canada. I hope you have heard of Toronto!

Anyways, I am a big Subaru nut, and have participated in rally's, and have been to the track a couple times. Most of all I like to go out on rally cruises with friends of mine from the Subaru clubs. I have owned two Bugeye WRX's, one of which I totalled by hitting a moose and rolling 2 times and landing on my roof, then being hit by a Ford F350 while I was upside down....and walked away. The other one "the replacement" I just sold because I just had a baby boy on Haloween! Mini Van time!

Anyways, it's only been a month since I sold it, and I still have the Subaru bug! I went out and bought an OLD 1992 Subaru Legacy 2.2 Turbowagon, and have decided to compete in some Iceracing events. I have downloaded all of the rules/regulations, and have had some advice thrown my way, but if any of you have done iceracing in the past...please give me some tips/hints as this is new for me.

Thanks for your time... Oh, also, if there is anyone from Ontario Canada here...chime in!

Welcome...where is Toronto?

We have more than a few guys around here that love to ice race so I am sure your going to get more than enough comments. Also congrats on the little kid! My brother just had a little girl here over thanksgiving so I know a little about what you've been going through.

Welcome to Trackpedia and I hope we will get you all the info you need.

Welcome Shane you have come to a good space on the net. Rally driving!! I'm impressed as I feel it is the most dangerous motorsport of all. Cheers to you mate.

I love to ice race with our Cooper S and co-drive a friends 1993 M3 which I do with BMWCCA up in New Hampshire. We plow out a basic road racing course. Because we have a huge lake to use the "banking" is soft as every course is fresh snow. Unlike summer track days, forget about "the line" you drive where you can find traction and do maintenance throttle across the glare ice until you get a spot of traction again. It's a hoot, driving sideways, using the e-brake. We get a lot of Suburu WRX's and EVO's up there, along with a few rally drivers who do winter rallys in Canada. With your experience you'll have a blast. I wish I had a link but the Ottowa Motor Club does a lot of ice racing. Some of it is really intense as in door to door and roll cages are required. Seems the Chevy Chevette is the prefered car. In Canada you should find zero contact ice racing close by. Good luck!
