Default Which H&N do you own?

This is a poll to see which H&Ns people use. We'll repost this poll every 6 months or so to see if any trends develop.

None. That would have ended my post, but the little idiot message came on and told me my message was too short and that I needed to lengthen it so I am lengthening it into stupity range.

First, anyone who tracks a car, particularly in an aggressive manner, should own a H&N device of some sort!

I own an Isaac as I find it far superior in crash test data both frontal and side impacts and it is also as effective in a weekend warrior car as it is in professional race car that has all the other safety items. People need to realize that HANS for example depends upon other cokpit configurations to provide safety for the driver that a weekend warrior will never have, halo's, nets on both side of the driver, etc.

While I do agree with some of your pionts, my car has a cage, Recaro SPG's, 6 point belts which work fine with my HANS. What am I missing here? I agree 100% that any H&N restraint is better than none. Cars can be replaced, people can't.

A Hans does nothing in a side impact except slip out from under the belts and creates even more danger for the driver. Ask Chad McQueen about this in his accident this year at Daytona. Probably will not ever race competitively again. He was wearing a HANS. Would his accident be better with another H&N, we will never know so we have to go with the sled data. Isaac wins there everytime.

I'd a big debate about Hans and side impacts last year when we did out H&N wiki page. http://www.trackpedia.com/wiki/Head_and_Neck_Restraints

People are very sensitive about saying Hans isn't great in a side impact probadly because everybody gets one.

I have an R3 myself which I like and have good side impact/angular data but it's not as good as Hans in a frontal.

I will not argue the point with you. It does seem like HANS is the 900 pound gorilla on the block. We all know that it is required in NASCAR & F1. Is anyone aware that BMWCCA Club Racing in 2006 mandates a HANS? Not a H&N restraint, but a HANS. I am sure some politics went into that. I do not know any driver that uses an Issacs, I have read good things about them. I will repeat my mantra, if you are doing DE, time trials, club racing, please spend the money on some H&N and pray you never have to use it. I will personally will try to avoid side impacts. I'm not a schill for HANS but it is what I have and I don't go to the track w/o it.
