It may be too late now, but there was a show on Speed Channel last night about Cobra's.

Morris what sort of torque can the TKO handle. Your not the first person that I have hear worries about a tranny holding together on a torque monster like you have. See a few different big block cars eat up the pinions teeth at BIR now.

I think the TKO 600 will handle the torque we are putting out on a Road Race track...because you don't get that much grip....... and the car is constantly in a moving forward position.....

Fortunately the car weighs 2550#lbs and is fairly light.....

Also shifting them is like shifting any transmission in a 24hr indurance race..... you shift very carfully and don't try an force anything.....

And we are in excess of 600 Ft lbs of torque.....

It held up for our first test at Gateway International and hopefully will last... although time will tell.....

Sounds really cool man. 600lbs jesus...I think being careful with each gear shift isnt the only think your going to be doing. Throttle input in millimeters seems to be on the horizon as well to keep the back end steady with that little weight over the rear axle.

You have to be at what a 60/40 split?

We have a 48%Frt/52%Rear......weight and the balance on the car after the first test session was good.....

We need to fix a few items like fuel starvation on an Oval..... more neg camber in the front.... bigger vent on the diff..... and power steering....

The down force was better then we thought ..... so power steering is now going to be a needed item....

Man 48/52 is just excellent. The fuel starvation coming because of pickup location in the tank or just issues with the carbs? Your a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than me but I am curious since I have to change my engine around here to pick up some tidbits.

What we found out was that when you run most road courses you're only in the turn for a few seconds.........

The minute you go to a banked oval..... you are in the turn for a very long time...and you will throw the fuel over to the side of the fuel cell....

We now have a collector inside of the fuel cell with trap doors to collect the fuel ....about 1 gallon..... and then we pump out of that....to the front of the car.....

But when we went into the banked oval .... with less then 10 gallons of gas ...the fuel pressure went to zero.......

So now we have to add two additional low pressure fuel pumps into the sides of the tank to help fill the collector while we are in the banked oval.....

The speed and force on you and the car in a banked oval is much more then a road course turn will ever give you......

So now we'll have some pumps inside the cell filling the collector so we can pump up to the front.....

BTW the collector is good because it keeps the fuel collected in a small container with no slosh or normally high enough to maintain fuel in a corner ..... but not on a Banked Oval....

Sorry for the long post...

That would take a lot of work.... more fuel pumps up top ....and sealing it down inside the fuel cell...... to the other collector....

It's just easier to add the low volumn pumps to the existing cell and fill within..... now all we need to do is some extra wiring.... not a big deal....

Banked tracks present a whole different set of issues from normal road courses..... never had this problem at Road America....Mid Ohio,,,Road Atlanta.... IRP... or others...
