iRacing League... endurance/multi-class...
Hey guys... I've recently been participating in a private league for iRacing and I was hoping a few more of my buds could join us.
It's a sub-league of the Friendly Slow Racing crowd and so far it's absolutely some of the best competition I've encountered. Also some of the cleanest racing to be found anywhere.
The particular series I'm running is the SIMR series of endurance races. Most of the best tracks and lots of choices in vehicles as well... I'm not sure if you have to be a member to view the subforums, but if not, here's the skinny on that series:
http://flyingkiwi.org/iracing/index.php?topic=1161.0
Basically there are three types of races within this series: "Iron Man" (Radical, MX5, Late Model), "Intercontinental Cup" (Riley DP, Mustang), and "Corvette Speedway Cup" (C6R on Ovals).
So far the fields have been decent... 5-6 cars of each class on average... but we could certainly use more. The way the points system is set up, it rewards CLEAN racing... not just who finishes first (so in theory, drivers in the slower cars have a chance for the overall title just as much as the guys running in the faster cars.)
Open practices are held every Saturday from noon to 4:00 (EST), Race sessions are Sundays... 60 min practice starts at noon, two-lap quali at 1:00, race immediately afterwards.
Would love to see some familiar faces mixing it up with us!!

Apparently, you do have to be a member to view the wiki.
I'd love to do something like this, but my schedule won't allow it. I end up working many of those days.

LOL. Zombie thread. I didn't even look at the date.
Yeah. I had to do that. I just started it back up after about a 2 year absence. Having fun in the Multi-chassis racing (Grand Touring Cup running the Solstice).

Nope. It's still a rookie car along with the 2 Mazdas, the SRF, and the Caddilac (which, after driving it, should NOT be a rookie car!).
I'm racing in the Grand Touring Cup. It's a D-class series with the Solstice, Mazda MX-5 Cup, and VW Jetta. I didn't buy the Jetta as I prefer RWD cars, and the MX-5 is pretty easy to drive. I want to learn more and get better, so I chose the Solstice. I did consider the SRF series and the Mustang series too. The Mustang series has a lot of rovals though, and I despise rovals, so that was out. The SRF has good participation numbers, but it's a single-chassis, so I went with the GTC. I'm enjoying it. The racing is good and generally very clean. It seems like the Jettas usually win, but that's probably drive more than car.
