Default PCA Labor Day Races at Road America

No pictures or data to post yet... But had a great Sat/Sunday over at Road America working with Brent and Mark. Brent cut time every session, and Mark set 3 track records throughout the practice and qualification. Eric Kuns was there to, and throughout the weekend, it was clear that we were going to witness a classic showdown between him and Mark.

The first few laps of the race showed exactly that... each time we saw them (sitting in 5, watching 14) there was a different person in the lead.

Unfortunately, a mechanical problem put an early end to what would have been an epic race.

I'll let them post their details in their own words, but it was fun hanging out with everyone at the track.

ok, not action pictures. I just had my cell phone camera... but at least something. I have some poor video but its not off the video camera yet. Hopefully we'll get race cam footage, but there were issues with those cameras as well. ah... technology.

Love the ingenuity. Thanks Eric It was great having you and Rob up there hanging out. Hated to see Mark go out early with the electrical gremlins.

A 2:45 in a 135hp 944....just amazing. Hats off to Mark!

I'm pretty sure it was the prefabulated amulite.

huge thanks to Eric and Rob for coming out and helping, was great to see you blokes again. Hats off to SterlingDoc for the win; we was right there in terms of lap times, and was leading when I went out. (Apparently my kill switch was made by Lucas Electronics) Not sure I would have been able to get around him.

SterlingDoc -
Glad you made it out to run with us, too bad the car counts were down though we were missing a number of folks that normally would have made it.

Mark -

It was great fun racing with you - we had a nice clean scrap at the beginning of the race - pass & repass. Nice to race with someone who's fast and has great situational awareness. If Neal had been able to get his license sorted out, he would have been racing for the lead with us, instead of buffing his 944 Turbo for the concours (he got 3rd). Neal's a threat at any track, and has a lot of time in at Road America in a Skip Barber car. Maybe next year.

Brent -

made some nice progress through the weekend - looks like you & Chris in the Pink Pig were very close in times - did you get gridded close & have some racing?

I had two cameras going for the main race, but nothing to show for it - the lipstick cam ran out of battery on the grid, and the interior video just shut off early on - it's been fussy that way lately. Eric's got video of earlier in the weekend on his jump drive (thanks for letting me borrow some space!)- he can post that or send it when he gets time, if possible.

Again, thanks for the hospitality .

Chris and I were gridded close but unfortunately some slower D and E cars were in the middle. I did get to close up on him then the lapping E cars caused a gap and I couldn't get back up to dice with him before the laps ran out.

Next year....
