Default Hybrid Pro FIA approved

New updates on the Safety Solutions website:
http://www.safetysolutionsracing.com/wordpress/?p=627

There's some info on the new Hybrid Pro, including the statement:
SFI 38.1 Certified / FIA Institute Approved

Some very cool videos on that site. Lots of seat testing but also suit fire testing showing how different 1 and 2 layer suits are. Pretty cool.

I'd like to see a race car thought to be well set up barrier tested at 70G for education purposes. Wonder how much a test like that would cost? The stock car on the site had its engine move through the firewall at a 62mph delta. I wonder how my spec 944 would hold up to the same test...

They also mention at least 6 x 3/8 bolts holding a seat in a car. Mine is mount on a square frame welded to the car frame but the seat plates are still only held in 4 places.

I also wonder if NASA or SCCA ever sled test a 'typical' car meeting CCR. I understand there are crashes every day etc but it would be interested to see a legal car tested at these high hits.

so much for those that claimed that HANS and FIA conspired to keep market closed.......

Congrats to SS, more is better

haven't seen an updated 8858 yet... (current 8858 is very shape specific)
and it's not in the latest Tech List 29

Who makes that seat, etc and where can I buy it

I was thinking the same thing. The side door foam looks like the same stuff GM was testing in their World Challenge caddies.

I'd guess it's the same DOW Impaxx™ foam that NASCAR uses in the COT

Cool to see another vendor get into the game with FIA approval and have a pretty nice price point. The R3 has always been nice and now that they have the sliding tethers is every bit the HANS.

FYI,

When I talked to Safety Solutions (Trevor) at the SAE Conference earlier this month he said that the standard Hybrid and Hybrid Rage are also going to have FIA Homologation. They will not be able to ship any device with a FIA sticker until the the end of January 2009, at the soonest.

Very interesting Safe Drives. Is that when the FIA will pull back the very specific look and design that leggwork points out?
