Ah, the memories of the checks I have written. I had all of those problems too and more. Two water pumps, powersteering rack, various electrical issues and a clutch due to a failed rear tranny seal that made the clutch slip. Plus about 8 coolant, oil and differencial leaks over the years and wheel bearings, etc. There is more... And I only had 150K on it. It was the $4,000 in repairs bills in the last four months of overship that pushed me over the edge plus the fact that it suddlenly started using oil (Turbo seals).

Oh, I forgot about all of the suspension arms I replaced to cure creaking noises.

WOW!
Major surgery indeed. The AW TT community has lots of data, and you and I are pretty extreme. The 2000 seems OK, but the early 225 had beaucoup troubles, anecdoctally.

The WP was an OEM issue: plastic. Everyone who got the euro metal impeller quit having problems. And we all went back to the original small diameter LCA by using a metal bushing insert. Got great handling back too (lost a lot of understeer). Replace the Timing Belt on-time, and VOILA!

Mine has had few mechanical problems. I'm on the original clutch (knock on wood), have aftermarket StopTechs Stage 2 by choice, and few creaks. The Koni/Eibach is good for track days, and supple on the street. Car still pulls like stink on boost, and is great fun. Not an RS-A mind you, but great fun.

All in all I've got about 3K total "repairs" over the lifetime. Service has been decent, nearly euro quality at my stealer (which is rare). High overall I expect, but such is the price of fast women and beautiful cars!

The A3 has fewer reported problems, as one might expect. I've monitored the AudiWorld (AW) forums and most complaints rate pretty low in my book. But at my age, I know that life ain't perfect. The DSG is trick, far and away the best of the bunch.
