Whats the difference between EKS and DSG boxes?
Anyone know? Phils RUF is an EKS not a DSG.

From RUF's website:
In 1992 the RUF BTR became available with the Electronic Clutch System, or EKS, which was developed in partnership with Fichtel and Sachs. EKS provides all the advantages of being able to enjoy the sportiness of shifting gears but without the tiresome clutch pedal in pesky stop-and-go traffic or in high speed conditions. It is sporty yet comfortable, with consistently flawless clutch engagement. So, EKS is just an electro-clutch system and DSG is basically 2 transmissions in one. One of the transmissions does gears 1,3,5 and the other does 2,4,6. Both output shafts are connected to the differential. DSG works by changing the alternate (non-engaged) gear box to the correct next gear, and then changing which input shaft gets power. This way the transmission is never really out of gear.

Just want to add to Steve's excellent description that DSG has 2 clutches (one is always engaged). EKS has only 1 clutch. SMG is also a 1-clutch system similar to EKS.
