Green Goes Mean? Motorsports Firms to Build Hybrid F1 Car

FIA president Max Moseley has already said some form of regenerative braking system that powers a burst-of-speed system is the future for Formula One (a comment that caused more than a few FIA underlings to spit-take their Châteauneuf du Pape). Now, two motorsports technology firms are teaming up to build the first hybrid-drive Formula car. Formula Renault builder Tatuus will build a concept designed by the technologists at N.Technology. Could a new "green" series be in the offing, or will Moseley get his F1 wish?

A winnning desiel R10 from Audi in ALMS, so who knows what the future holds for "Green" cars in F1 or elsewhere. Personally not a "tree hugger" but would support vehicles that are more friendly to the enviorment for road use. My dad just bought a Toyota Prius and starts every conversation with "I'm getting 50 mile per gallon, what you gettin?"

Prius are excellent! You can use them as mobile cones for Auto-X!

Actually, a green F1 concept could be done. F1 is turning into extremly expensive and performance marginals are getting smaller. F1 is pushing and promoting technology and is a very strong brand.

Green technology needs development, we're far from using the best technology now. Also promoting, it's pretty much labeled "nerd". Sure, the F1 circus would become slower, but I think in a few years it will be just as quick. It would also be a great promotion opportunity from the manufacturer, bringing back the "F1 Technology in you car" slogan.
