Default How to spot a heat cycled out tire

Ok
I'm curious besides from driving on the track and feeling it out or timing, is there any way to know if an R compound has too many heat cyles from looking at it?

You can feel how hard the rubber is with your finger nail. Compare to other tires of known age/softness.

Nope, looks the same color. I'll photograph them later.

Here's the photos. The tires don't feel particularly soft to touch. Guess, I'll have a point of comparison tomorrow with the other ones.

Harder to tell from a visual. The finger nail pinch will give you a clue. Remember you are buying about $1000.00 worth of tires for $200.00 so unless the previous owner has switched to a different brand I'd be a bit wary.
