Cheers Everyone!
I am a resident MD, who was dumb enough to take a 3 day Skip Barber course at Road Atlanta in December, and now, I spend all daydreaming moments thinking about getting on track.
After my first track exposure I bought a Spec E30 BMW.
I have made it to a BMW HPDE that included monsoon rains and a Ferrari Club event with little/ no instruction, plenty of rain second day too. Both of these events were at VIR.
I had mechanical issues with my BMW last time out (loose linkage). Which led me to take out a car that I said I would NEVER put on the track, and I had a water pump quit to help reinforce that instinct. So I crippled a Ferrari 308 temporarily.
I included pics of the BMW before (in orange), and a very grainy pic of the 308 down the front straight at the South Course of VIR.

Welcome aboard sir!
The Spec BMW is a great track weapon and we have some of the best spec E30 drivers on the planet on this website. Enjoy!
Welcome Aboard!! Nice choice on the BMW... seems like there are a lot of people tracking those on the eastern seaboard. Good Luck!

It's addictive.
It's rarely fatal.
It can be treated with large, regular doses of money and time.
It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't shared the experience.
Good luck!
I just got a 2008 1-series BMW ....

but its for my wife

Sasha's old car! Glad to see someone will put it to good use again.
Welcome to the site! I'm sure I'll see you at the track sometime soon. What events do you have planned? Any racing in the future?

Beware of this guy, he is ruthless and insanely quick , don't try to keep up with him your first time out.

You mean the former champion? Yeah words out, even for a total newbie. I have NO illusions about my skill at this point. I will spend the rest of the year, and probably next getting to the point where I am not a menace on track before actually going out to compete (if ever).
But, I hope to meet guys out there. I am currently signed up for Carolina Motorsports Park event July 11 and 12.
Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Monsoon is about the only word to describe it.... Oh yeah, it was 32 debgrees; they finally cut us off on Sunday as ice was starting to form.
What is more crazy than that you ask? Answer - Procoach riding passenger with me driving in those conditions. The man is VERY gracious under "challenging" conditions/situations. He gets an A+ from me. Thanks again Peter, hope we can do it again!

Hey fellas, I ENJOY it. What a great job! sainthoo, your bubbling enthusiasm warmed that car right up!
I must say, when the Tarheel Chapter folks were debating whether or not to shut it down on Sunday as the temp dropped another 5 degrees from Saturday and ice was forming in the windshield, their question to me was: "Do you think anyone will learn anything if we continue?"
I not only said NO, I said "Hell, NO!" :p
