Thats the set of maps we will be racing for the TP/Apexspeed rfactor summer challenge. I have tested all of them for compliance with up to 20 cars on the grid and were ready to rock. I figure attendance will be spotty over the summer but I would love to see everyone coming out and racing given these are the tracks a lot of us will be running over the summer and it will be good practice for all.

I probably missed it somewhere, but when will we be running? Weeknights or on the weekend like the winter relief series?

I guess since I'm still up and thinking of random things, I should also ask when the league officially commences date wise.

I go sleep now (or try at least), good-night...err...morning I guess

This time around, could you post the links to the tracks all at once (rather than just a week in advance)?

Like you need any practice Mike!! :miffed: ;)

John... looks like a great series! One question:

What the hell is Vanport Int'l Raceway?!

Stack, Vanport is just what they called Portland for some reason, they must not have got naming rights or something.

And yeah, I agree with Mike, it would be nice to get all the tracks ahead of time.

I guess I also should have said that I agree with you that Mike doesn't need the practice time, but you're probably thinking the same about me. So I better watch what I say

That's like giving you guys unlimited test days before the race. Like you need that much practice...

Some base lap times (4-5 laps run on most tracks)
VIR 3.0 1:41.34
Brainerd (Don't have track)
Lime Rock Park 43.56 No Chicane / 47.74 With chicane
Birmingham 1:17.14
Laguna Seca 1:17.76
Vanport International Raceway 1:07.4
Daytona Road Course 1:46.39
Putnam Park 57.4
Sebring 12h 1:56.06
Gateway 51.75
Autobahn 2:07.54 (Full Course)
Mid America Motorplex 1:19.78
Blackhawk (Don't have track)
Willow Springs Raceway 1:04.56

I'm only missing 2 tracks, and have run @ Blackhawk in real life.

Most of those times will be easily matched and improved upon, some maybe not.

Just a couple notes.

Unless it's a different version of Willow Springs ( http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Willow%20Springs%20Raceway ), I can't see how this will even be a race, The track is run full throttle 99% of the lap, There is 1 short braking zone and a slight lift for one other corner. Although with these cars, the draft does come into effect, so maybe with some other cars it will be decent.

I'm kind of on the fence regarding Gateway as well, there are 2, maybe 3 possible passing opportunities, but in these cars it's another track where you just hold it to the floor and aim it in the right direction. It's an OK track and again this is just my useless opinion.

With Autobahn, will we be running the full layout, or one of the shorter half sections (If so, I recommend the south track)

Lime Rock is a great track, but as was the case with the FBMW cars, the track is too small and doesn't allow any passing opportunities unless you really force the issue. I didn't survive the first corner to see how the race really went so I could be wrong.

Just a few things I was thinking about as I rounded these circuits, I know it really doesn't mean anything but oh well

I'm hoping South track. The North track is too short. The combined track isn't realistic as most races don't run both and the transition between the two tracks is bad in real life. I'm not sure how it is in the sim.

can you say "major speed bump", big air, suspension probably wouldn't last a full race if damage/wear modeled realistically

Whoa!!

I just noticed there's no Road Atlanta! Did you hate the track that much John?! :D

Yeah, that's actually one of the tracks I test drove before the track list was released cause I figured it would be included. It's actually a good drive, 1:14.1 lap time. :)

Maybe he doesn't want to be reminded of the arrival/emergence of Skeen. IIRC that was where my chances of winning races disappeared the instant I drove a few laps behind him

Mike/Ty I will post the tracks all at once at the beginning of the season (might still update if new ones come out during the year) so that you guys can get your practice in. :)

Stack Road Atlanta was meant to be included the whole time and it was just an oversite that it was left off. I have replaced Lime Rock with Road America as well as I ran a test race at Lime Rock online tonight with the Champcars and it was impossible to pass except into T1 or if someone made a mistake.

HeyYa Folks,
Just checking in on if any early Spring race meets are gonna happen. The F-Atl mod and tracks look great, needing a SAT AM race league but that looks unlikely it appears

Well, did find another this wknd, formula-simracing has MMG F1 Amature racing early Satrdys, likely gonna signup. I'd prefer F-Atl on Amer tracks but I'm not much in control here, just like my driving is often.. :stupid:

Anyway, I'll still stay tuned, but I dont have time for > 1 league..

Hey folks,
We gonna have any Saturday AM practice racing? Just checking one more time, cause if not I'm gonna sign up at Formula SimRacing for their MMG F1 series. I'd rather run F-Atl on those choice USA tracks with you all but thats my time for racing and looks like it aint to be.

I'll stay tuned though for what shakes out

The way we did it in the winter was we had the upcoming race's track up on the server the whole week leading up to the event, so one could get plenty of online practice. There were often enough people practicing that we could do some pick-up racing. Are you guys looking for something more than that?

Not really. I'm just looking to get some track time in. I've been racing against the AI, but I'd like to get some practice against real thinking, feeling, f'ing up human beings. I think having a pre-arranged time to practice race would be beneficial because then we would be assured of "getting our race on".

I'm usually available anytime on Saturday mornings.

If I'm not at the track, I'll try to be on Saturdays myself before the Mrs gets up.

I'm won't be able to do anything for a couple weeks though probably, we just started a huge renovation project on our house... right now everything is covered in plastic and/or dust :miffed:

There's usually people on in decent numbers the last couple nights before the race. The time people seem to be on the most is between 8 and 10pm. You'll see what I mean once the league starts up. There really isn't a need to have a designated practice time. If nobody is on, all it takes is a post here at least an hour or so before you plan to jump on the server and you'll usually see at least a couple people join in. Welcome to the league!

Thanks for the info Keith.

I certainly appreciate all the information about what people are doing for practice. It is very helpful.

I'd like hear what Don, or others, is thinking (glad to hear Stack will be there), because I don't always have time of an evening to get on for practice, but Saturday mornings would work great for me. A lot of times, it's just me and the dog roaming around the house in the wee hours of the morning and it would be good to know there is somebody else out there that wants to practice, then. If I can get on the server in the evenings, I'm sure I'll be doing that, too.

We will be holding the races on Wednesday night at 8pm CST. Practice is available any night during the week as the game is up and running at all times for folks to join. Typically between 8-10pm folks are on and its simple to fire the game up and check if anyone is logged in.

I get the feeling there are usually plenty of folks on the server and that it's not hard to get a practice race going.

Sometimes I'm just a little slow. :stupid:

In case you all haven't noticed, Keith put up the FAtlantics on Mid-Ohio w/ chicane for everyone to get some seat time.

Hey guys, when does this summer league start? I've got class Wednesday nights until late May. I'd still like to race, even if I miss the first few weeks. These FA cars are right up my alley: easy to drive fast! :)

As I posted on the other thread I have been a loser with putting up the information because work has been killing me. League will start April 16th 9pm CST.
