Built mine this past summer out of black 2 1/2 inch pvc, some 3/4 inch plywood and a passanger seat out of a Honda! Nice and comfy to drive for those hour long races!

Dayum! That's sweet Gunny! What are you running for equipment?? I don't feel so bad about running a 1:40 at Brands just using my keyboard. :D

What kinda bike is that Kenda tire hanging on? I've got a Specialized Stumpjumper I need to exchange for something new. I'm thinking it might be time for a 29er.

I have two mountain bikes. I have a Epic and I have a Zion Single speed bike I built. The Epic is a cool bike but I like the hard tail better! Plus it's great fun when I'm in good form to smoke the geared bikes with my SS. If you ever in Richmond VA let me know few great places to ride (got to wait till my hip heals up though)

Most of the Rochester gang have sat in mine. I did however add a new 24" monitor this year. Hasn't made me any faster though!!

Wife says she's going to bury me in it when I die. I think she may actually do that.

G25 is nice but about $250. I use a Logitech DFP $99(Driving Force Pro) It was made for the PS2 but they have a windows driver for it. I installed the FREX add-on $400 and ECCI pedals $425.

See post below.

I just bought a G25 tonight because I can't stand not being able to run without force feedback any more...I keep f*cking up coming out of turns because I have to "drive out". So we'll see if this actually does anything or if I just get slower. :)

Some of this PVC fitting stuff is the basis of a nice frame etc.

I saw that on the simracing webcast.. I'd be surprised if it was under $10k.

Jesus 20k...thats the cost of a real FC. Why not strap it on and race for real for that kind of cash.

I got to try one of those at the Champ Car race in Toronto this year. Not bad, but for the price I'd just buy a real car.

I have a "TV" table + Momo wheel+pedals
Monitor in it's normal postion...
and desk chair

I posted that PVC info as I am considering an upgrade......

As I only get sim stuff out off-season, I might even move my Sparco Evo-L seat from my racer to the sim

I've seen some pretty nice desk and chair setups. I built my simulator this past summer. So anyways here is my desk setup I used before the simulator.
The computers have specific jobs.
The white one is the race server that we all have been racing on. It made a trip to Indy and hosted a pretty awesome lan party!

The middle one is a backup race server/backup race machine, and my media computer. I use is for everything.

The one on the right is my race computer.

Got a nice APC UPS which is capable of keeping the server and router up and running by itself for the duration of a full race.

I've swapped out the router you see there with a nice d-link router. Now I just need to figure out how to buy some speed to hang with you guys!

Hey Gunny,

I recognize two of those boxes, one has mine and a bunch of fellow racers from when we were all at Indy for a F1 race and we had a LAN party, the other box is an identical box that you built for me! :)

Well Ok, since you asked,

Pedals - home made, from plans I bought ($12) from Todd Cannon (cannon simulation) they cost me $200, later added a contactless hall effect potentiometer (gas) $40. The break uses a "load cell" they use them in elec scales etc. it works on pressure, not how far you push it down. I really like the pedals, they were fun to build, you can customize, I tried to make mine look like van diemen pedals. very adjustable, if they don't feel right, adj them. I do recommend the pedals, load cell is the way to go.

projector - I would not have spent that much just for sim racing, but it works great. the image is 5.5x4ft. thats 82" diag. max res 1024x768, very bright (hard to photograph) I can still move it into the other room and watch movies in Hd.

That is still really clean and better looking compared to mine (picture coming when I get around to it/ get it cleaned up enough to present)

I miss my rig that was somewhat similar to that Mossie., didn't have the pressure sensitive pedals though

Sorry Keith, disassembled for parts, (like a lot of things around here), I would have given them to you if I had known.

Thanks John, and Gunny, yea the projector is great, the car is almost life size. some of the starts, here, have been pretty intense. Johns car has filled that screen a few times  I continue to be happy with the pedals, load cell breaks, and contactless pot on the throttle are the way to go. I changed the wheel mount, so now it tilts up to make getting in easier.
