Not that anyone has a desire to swap out brake controllers just for the fun of it. But when I sold the Shagvan to Stecher and Rob, I let them keep the Prodigy as I knew they'd be trailering right away.

When I went out to buy another unit for the truck, the P3 came up as the latest greatest from Tekonsha. So being gullible, I decided to try the latest unit.

I have been very pleased with the results. The features are very easy to use and the graphics display helps understand any issues or what I just futzed with.

I'd highly recommend it after using it for a few months. The extra $20 was worth it.

How is it different than a Prodigy? I don't see the difference besides it can display french and spanish :)

Display is easier to read and the codes actually read like a code.

No Trailer Connected

Short

Ground Fault

Boost levels are much easier to understand. And you can mount it near vertical.

Like I said Billy, you wouldn't likely trade you Prodigy in on one. But those in the market might be interested in seeing the latest, greatest.

And my French is getting pretty good :p

So it doesnt sound like functionally, it's any different.

You're right functionally it's the same. You push on your vehicle brakes and it determines how much electrical impulse to send to the trailer brakes so they apply braking to the trailer thus helping you stop.

The interface is different and very nice though.

Stick with your Prodigy. I wasn't trying to sell you one.

heh, when I finally have my F450 superduty with a 6.6L diesel and 48 foot 5th wheel with living quaters ill worry about inertia based controllers. :)

I'd get one even with smaller rigs, they cost like 80 bucks and they work, very, very well.

So does my 40 dollar timer based controller. Never once has it let me down even when some dimwit cut in front of me and slammed on the brakes in traffic. I spend the other 40 bucks on bearing buddies for my trailer to make that maintinence task easier.
