looks scary, but I think all of the impacts were light.. good angles at the wall touches. Didn't even look to jar him up very much.

I'd like to see pics of the car after... I thought I only saw one light wall impact

FWIW, the driver of that, Jim Daniels, was the 2006 Cup Champ..............
"Thanks for the words. In hotel can hardly move. Fly home later today. Scheduled for xrays in the morn for left arm n ribs
Bitter sweet weekend, wife missed banquet in hospitol, my crash but MER dominant and Jason won, what a sport!
At the turn in for the kink while wot a part failed on the left rear, the wheel rolled under the car and spun me 360 where I would catch the wall with my side. Same exact looking crash as KL.
Car can be fixed though so not as bad as it could be. King Drago will do some magic and maybe it will be a bit lighter/stronger [Wink]
What a season, more on that later!
Thanks guys!!"

Yep
Probably 120mph and the rear end spins around and hits the wall. It's gotta hurt even if it didn't look so bad.

120 would be amazingly high for that car at that point. I would think 110 maybe...either way sucks ass on the parts failure at a critical moment.

You reckon? The sp1 can so 100+ with 155bhp, whats a cup miata 230?

similar power as a stock Miata, so not much
should be lighter and on better tires than your SP1, maybe enough grip to flat-foot the carousel

Is that car a cup miata or an older one? If it's an older one then from other people, the maitas are similar to sp1s but the new cup ones are much faster.

he called it an MX5 cup in the video, which means new Miata since they don't call them that anymore
I seriously doubt 230hp without forced induction, which they don't have... or a radical naturally aspirated build, which they also don't have...

16-valve, 2.0-litre MZR I4, producing 170 hp (128 kW) and 140 ft·lbf (190 N·m)

2425lbs also so maybe 200lbs lighter with 20bhp more than a spec 944.

120 is still high. The machines are fairly closely matched.

you need to make sure you're comparing HP measurements from the same place
I've got 135hp at the flywheel, but only 116hp at the ground...

and weight with or without driver in both...
Still, I think we're close enough to know these aren't doing 120 at the kink, though I'm sure they have better suspension and setups (since they are pro cars) than a lot of what's out there--thereby getting a good run out of the carousel. The difference between 110 and 120 doesn't matter whole lot in our assessment of this accident though.
