Hello everyone.
I joined a while ago, but just recently started visiting more often.
I started off autoxing in June of '99 in my brand new Grand Prix GTP (http://www.scottbarton.net/GrandPrix) and did my first track event that Sept at WGI with Trackmasters. I continued to do autox every chance I could for the next several years and maybe a track event once or twice every other year (couldn't afford to do it more often then).
Once the GTP was paid off in 2002, I got a 1998 BMW M Roadster (http://www.scottbarton.net/BMW) that I autoxed and ocassionaly tracked. I was getting tired of autoxing and wanted to do more track events. Unfortunately most clubs did not allow convertibles on the track, so I started hunting for a street/track car.
In 2004 I started getting serious about doing track events and have been doing about 4-8 events per year since then and the number is growing each year.
That year I sold the M Roadster and GTP and bought a 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo (http://www.scottbarton.net/MR2) and quickly modded the hell out of it and turned into a street legal track car.
The car was pretty damn quick (http://www.dtmotorsports.com/~sbarton/Turboed.wmv) and a lot of fun, but due to problems with the engine builder it had reliability issues.
I sold the MR2 last year (2006) and got a 1984 Porsche 911 (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2564268). It was already a track car as the previous owner set it up for PCA F Class racing, but still streetable as he drove it to and from events.
I plan on keeping the 911 until the 2009 season when my Yukon tow vehicle will be paid off, and then plan on selling the 911 and getting a C5 Z06. :)
I think that car should sustain my need for speed. If not, then some cams, intake, header, and a tune should definately do the trick. ;)
Track's I have been to include WGI, VIR, LRP, CMP, and Shannonville. I am planning on adding Mid Ohio (memorial day weekend) and Summit Point (April 6-7) this year and maybe Mont Tremblant or Mosport.
I'm trying to get my wife to start doing some track events with me. She missed my old BMW M Roadster so much that we got her a 2001 BMW M Roadster (http://www.scottbarton.net/MRoadster) last year.
